“A HUGE THANK YOU to all at Turnpike for A* service. Professional, friendly and because my wheel lock key had somehow not been supplied with my car, one of Turnpike's staff took over my phone call to the garage where I bought the car, and speedily made me a cappuccino. Totally above and beyond and I was extremely grateful. 4 new tyres now fitted at Turnpike. Again, professional and friendly. I thoroughly recommend them.”

When Should You Book Wheel Alignment?

Four wheel alignment is not something most drivers think about - until it starts affecting comfort or safety. At Turnpike Tyres, we recommend booking a wheel alignment:

  • Every 6,000 miles
  • After replacing tyres or suspension components
  • Following a hard impact such as hitting a pothole or mounting a kerb
  • Before your MOT if you've noticed unusual tyre wear or steering issues

Signs your wheels may be out of alignment include:

  • Pulling to one side while driving on a straight road
  • Uneven or accelerated tyre wear, especially along the inner or outer edges
  • A crooked steering wheel when driving straight
  • Steering vibration or a “loose” feeling while cornering

If you’ve experienced any of these symptoms, or just want peace of mind, we’re happy to provide a visual inspection and let you know if realignment is required. Early intervention not only improves handling but can also extend the lifespan of your tyres and reduce fuel costs.

What’s Included in a Wheel Alignment Appointment?

Our alignment service includes:

  • Full 4-wheel alignment using our Hunter Hawkeye alignment system.
  • Adjustments to toe settings based on manufacturer specs
  • Visual inspection of tyre condition and pressures
  • Advice on suspension or steering issues if spotted
  • Optional post-adjustment test where applicable

Correct alignment helps extend tyre life and improves overall safety and fuel economy. According to TyreSafe, poorly aligned wheels can cause up to 30% faster tyre wear.

FAQs About Wheel Alignment

Q. How long does a wheel alignment take?

A. Most alignments are completed within 30–45 minutes depending on vehicle type and condition.

A. Yes. We use a Hunter Hawkeye 4-wheel alignment system to measure and adjust all four wheels where vehicle specifications allow. This provides a more complete assessment of your vehicle's geometry than traditional front wheel tracking alone.

A. Not directly, but it can cause tyre damage that may result in a fail. It’s best to check alignment before your MOT if you've noticed handling issues.
